Study visit for the Secretariats of higher Ukrainian authorities on implementation of the Court’s judgments

A study visit by representatives of the Secretariats of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the Higher Council of Justice, the Ministry of Justice and the Parliament of Ukraine was held in Strasbourg on 29 and 30 November 2018. It was organised by the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and focused on building these institutions’ capacity in the implementation of the Court’s judgments.

The representatives had exchanges with Council of Europe experts on various issues related to the implementation of the Court’s judgments at national level. The experts came notably from the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights, the Venice Commission, and the Council of Europe cooperation activities in the area of justice.

The participants agreed on the need to continue further exchanges on the execution of the Court’s judgments, this being a matter of major importance for Ukraine, and to strengthen regular exchanges within the existing network of national experts on the implementation of the Court’s judgments.
