A delegation of the Committee of Experts is visiting the Austria this week from 16 to 20 February 2026 to evaluate progress made in the protection and promotion of regional and minority languages. The delegation is meeting with the representatives of the regional or minority languages speakers and the competent authorities in several municipalities. The visit also includes meetings with representatives of the Government and relevant state authorities.
This is the sixth monitoring visit of the Committee of Experts to Austria. Following this visit, the Committee will draw up its evaluation report on the implementation of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages in Austria, containing specific findings and recommendations for follow-up. The report is expected to be published at the end of 2026.
