Strategy for diversity and inclusion

A first strategy for diversity and inclusion in the European film industry covering the period 2022-2024 was adopted by the Eurimages Board of Management on 1st July 2022, thereby reinforcing the Fund’s commitment to promote a wider spectrum of film professionals and projects within the film industry.

This engagement of the Fund towards diversity and inclusion was reaffirmed by the Board of Management with the adoption on 6 December 2024 of its first integrated strategy for gender equality, diversity and inclusion (2025-2027).

In the framework of its First Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (2022-2024), the Fund launched two key initiatives aimed at raising awareness on diversity and inclusion in the film industry:
•    The creation of the EURIMAGES - EFAD Diversity & Inclusion Mapping Tool;
•    Since 2024, applicants to the Fund’s co-production support scheme are encouraged to include information on diversity and inclusion in their application, on a voluntary basis and if appropriate. Producers may choose to describe in their producer’s note the working process and the commitment of the team towards diversity and inclusion in all possible areas of impact of the project. This may include research practices, handling sensitive content that could be harmful or reinforce systemic barriers (during the writing process or during filming), engaging with local communities, or using specialised expertise.

 EURIMAGES - EFAD Diversity & Inclusion Mapping Tool

Eurimages and EFAD, the European Film Agency Directors association - the voice of national European Film Agencies - have collected information about the diversity and inclusion measures already developed in the associations’ member countries. This information concentrates mainly on film funding measures, festivals, associations and resources. The focus of the mapping tool is on current diversity and inclusion measures in the audiovisual and cinemas sectors, with a desire to emphasise the necessity of more action in these areas.

The mapping tool will be updated each time a new measure is developed and announced.
