On April 15 – 16, the Bologna Follow Up Group (BFUG) held its first meeting in the new work period of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). Under the Co-Chairmanship of Andorra and Portugal, the BFUG finalized its work program for the 2021 – 24 period. The BFUG is co-chaired by one EU and one non-EU country on a rotating basis, whereas the host of the next Ministerial conference acts as Vice Chair and provides the BFUG Secretariat. Albania fulfills these roles in the current period, as Albania will organize the Ministerial conference of the BFUG in May/June 2024.
The Council of Europe remains a key contributor to the EHEA. In 2021 – 24, the Council of Europe will participate in Working Groups on the fundamental values and on the social dimension of higher education as well as in peer groups on the recognition of qualifications and on qualifications frameworks. The Council will also continue to coordinate the EHEA Network of national correspondents for qualifications frameworks.
