Regional Workshop on anti-corruption standards of the Council of Europe and their monitoring

Within the framework of the joint programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe "Regional Support to Reinforce Human Rights, Rule of Law and Democracy in the Southern Mediterranean" (South Programme IV), the project on Promotion of good governance: Fight against corruption and money laundering in the Southern Mediterranean (SNAC 4) organised a “Regional Workshop on anti-corruption standards of the Council of Europe and their monitoring". The activity took place online on 22 and 23 February 2021 and gathered officials from relevant beneficiary institutions of Jordan, Morocco, Palestine** and Tunisia.

The aim of the activity was to increase awareness on Council of Europe anti-corruption standards by focusing on thematic issues such as investigation of corruption, integrity and anti-corruption policy and system, corruption and political funding, whistleblowing and protection and whistleblowers, independence, specialisation and means of anti-corruption authorities as well as the monitoring practice developed by the Council of Europe Group of States against Corruption (GRECO). The activity also served to exchange on related experiences, trends and examples provided by the beneficiaries.

The Council of Europe will continue to provide tailored support and assistance to interested beneficiaries in bringing their legal and institutional frameworks closer to Council of Europe standards.
