Launch of Action against Corruption in the Republic of Moldova

The Council of Europe and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the US Department of State launch a new cooperation project entitled “Action against Corruption in the Republic of Moldova”.

The project aims to address key priorities and needs in the Republic of Moldova which are closely interlinked with the reform processes initiated by the government and their obligations towards implementing international standards against corruption with an emphasis on implementing the Fourth Round Evaluation recommendations from the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO).

More specifically, the project will focus on integrity systems for judges and prosecutors and effectiveness of the asset disclosure regime in the Republic of Moldova.

Keynote speakers in the opening session of the Launching Conference are: H.E. Derek J. Hogan, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Moldova, Mr Gianluca Esposito, Head of Action against Crime Department, Executive Secretary of GRECO, and Ms Giulia Re, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau.

The Council of Europe’s Economic Crime and Cooperation Division will be the entity in charge of implementing this project in the Republic of Moldova.
