The CDADI Bureau met in Paris on 6-7 May 2026 to prepare the forthcoming 13th CDADI plenary meeting, which will take place in Strasbourg on 16-18 June 2026.
The Chairs of the Committee of Experts on Intercultural Integration of Migrants (ADI-INT), the Committee of Experts on Roma and Traveller Issues (ADI-ROM) and the Committee of Experts on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (ADI-SOGIESC) provided information on progress of their work.
In particular, a draft Committee of Ministers Recommendations on desegregation and inclusion policies and practices in the field of education of Roma and Traveller children and a draft Council of Europe strategy for the equality of rights of LGBTI persons (2027-2032) were discussed during the meeting.
Other important deliverables on the agenda comprised:
- A Handbook on democratic governance and representation and participation of Roma and Travellers in public and political life;
- A Peer learning and benchmarking tool on strategies for inclusion;
- An analytical study on spatial segregation;
- A Thematic review of the implementation of Recommendation CM/Rec(2010)5 on measures to combat discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation or gender;
- A Study on the risks and impediments to the full access to rights resulting from discrimination and violence on grounds of gender expression.
Two upcoming events were discussed:
- A possible High-level event: Inclusive Societies, Stronger Democracies - Shaping a more democratic Europe through intercultural inclusion and
- The Colloquium on the root causes of racism, which is planned to take place during the 13th CDADI meeting on 17 June, and which is organised together with the Permanent Representation of France.
An overview about the work to be done in 2026 and 2027 was given and followed by a discussion on the development of new Terms of Reference for 2028-2031.
Finally, the developments regarding the New Democratic Pact for Europe, as well as the joint Statement of CDADI and the Gender Equality Commission on the fundamental importance of equality, gender equality, diversity and inclusion for the New Democratic Pact for Europe were considered during the meeting.
