On 10 July 2023, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Moldova, of the Government and state institutions participated in the launching event of the "Council of Europe Week in the Republic of Moldova", which took place in the Council of Europe Square in Chisinau.
“Being here today - in the square of the Council of Europe, it is not by chance, it is a venue that reminds us of the footprint we have in the Republic of Moldova physically, but also our long-standing cooperation, of over 28 years. The Art Exhibition is a creative way to start the Council of Europe Week 2023. The works presented today show us how the Council of Europe’s key values : human rights, democracy, and rule of law; can be applied through the art.” – mentioned Giulia Re, the Head ad interim of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau.
The participants had the opportunity to admire an open-air painting exhibition, which displayed the works of the finalists of the national fine arts competition "My house is also your house: together in safety", organised within the Council of Europe project “Strengthening the human rights protection of refugees and migrants in the Republic of Moldova”. The event programme also included an instrumental music recital performed by the students of the Theoretical High School "Onisifor Ghibu" from Chisinau.
The Council of Europe Week in the Republic of Moldova aims to promote the values, ideals and fundamental principles of the Council of Europe, to inform the public about the work of the organisation in Chisinau, and to mark the 28th anniversary of the Republic of Moldova's accession to the Council of Europe.
