The Committee of Experts on access to origins (CJ-OR) held its second meeting on 28-30 October in Strasbourg. The committee continued its work on the draft recommendation on the rights of donor-conceived persons to know their origins. As part of the discussion, the Committee held an exchange of views on counselling and assistance provided to the families, donors, donor-conceived persons, of Ms Angela Pericleous-Smith and Caroline Spencer from the British Infertility Counselling Agency (BICA), together with Ms Nina Barnsley and Yael Ilan from the Donor Conception Network. The exchange has highlighted the importance of such services in helping all the parties to navigate social, emotional, and legal implications of origin disclosure. The 3rd meeting of the CJ-OR will take place on 24-26 March 2026.
