The conference “Upholding Human Rights and Ensuring Access to Justice in Migration” will take place on 27–28 June 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye, as part of the European Union–Council of Europe Joint Programme “Fostering Civil Society Participation in Access to Justice in Türkiye: Enhancing Human Rights in the Context of Migration and Environmental Justice”.
The conference will bring together representatives of civil society organisations, lawyers, legal professionals, public institutions and human rights bodies, international organisations, academia, and other stakeholders from Türkiye and other Council of Europe member States.
Participants will discuss current challenges and needs, share experiences and practices, and raise awareness of human rights standards relating to access to justice in migration contexts.
Key topics will include:
- Access to justice in the context of international and temporary protection;
- Legal safeguards and access to justice regarding deportation and administrative detention;
- Residence permits and access to justice: types, challenges, and solutions;
- Judicial proceedings and access to justice for people in migration.
