During its 28th meeting to be held online on 21-25 September, the Lanzarote Committee will start to examine the preliminary draft implementation report of its 2nd monitoring round dedicated to addressing the challenges raised by child self-generated sexual images/videos. It will also take stock of progress in the follow-up by Parties to its special monitoring report on “Protecting children affected by the refugee crisis from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse” and exchange views on a possible theme for its 3rd monitoring round.

Among the topics of the Committee’s regular exchanges of information, experiences and good practices with experts and practitioners are: information on stepping up protection against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children in times of COVID-19 pandemic and the recently adopted EU Strategy for a more effective fight against sexual abuse.

The Committee is also expected to take a decision on the request of observer status by the WePROTECT Global Alliance, international movement dedicated to national and global action to end the sexual exploitation of children online.
