Seminar on the European Convention and international refugee law compliant procedures at state borders

On 25 October, the Department for the Execution of Judgments participated in the Seminar on the European Convention on Human Rights and international refugee law compliant procedures at state borders, organised jointly by the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights and the UNHCR Representation to the European Institutions in Strasbourg.

The Department presented measures taken by member states of the Council of Europe to implement the European Court of Human Rights' judgments concerning the prohibition of collective expulsions and the protection against refoulement under Article 3 of the Convention and removal to a “safe third country”.

This event gathered notably national judges from 27 member states, judges from the European Court of Human Rights, members of the Court’s Registry, as well as representatives from the UNHCR.
