Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) joins the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies

In February, the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) officially joined the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies after signing a general framework cooperation agreement with the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR).

Through its Institute of Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning and Garden, the university has been actively involved in research and education related fields to Cultural Routes. Its work also covers related fields such as geography, tourism, heritage preservation, local development, cultural collaboration, and spatial planning.

MATE has played a significant role in supporting and promoting the European Route of Historic Gardens by hosting academic activities and publishing research papers. Notably, the President of the Scientific Committee of the European Route of Historic Gardens also serves as Director of the Institute of Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning and Garden.

The University Network for Cultural Routes Studies seeks to strengthen academic research on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. It encourages student engagement with these topics, promotes participation in the Programme’s annual initiatives, and provides scientific expertise to support its activities.
