A public consultation is scheduled to take place on 10 November 2026 online, focusing on the right to housing and accommodation and the challenges Roma and Traveller women face in their enjoyment of this right.
The meeting will:
- Identify the main housing and accommodation needs and priorities described by Roma and Traveller women’s organisations and activists;
- Analyse the causes and effects of identified barriers, including legal, administrative, financial, institutional, social and environmental factors;
- Identify the gender-specific effects of inadequate housing, insecure tenure, segregation, eviction and relocation;
- Consider how apparently neutral housing rules or criteria may disadvantage Roma and Traveller women in practice;
- Identify relevant responsibilities and potential contributions of public authorities, housing providers, civil society and other stakeholders;
- Document gaps between relevant standards or policies and the experiences on the ground.
The consultation meeting will be facilitated by an independent expert, who will translate the assessment findings into a feasible work plan, considering the Council of Europe’s mandate, to orient future work in this area.
The call is open to representatives of Roma and Traveller women civil society organisations and activists.
Interested candidates must complete an online Form by 2 November 2026, midnight, Central European Time (CET). Incomplete forms or forms received after that deadline will not be considered.
