Workshop on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and HELP Course Certificate Award in Armenia

On 15 October 2025, the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, organised a workshop on combating trafficking in human beings. The workshop was combined with a certificate award ceremony for the Council of Europe’s HELP online course “Combating Trafficking in Human Beings”. The event took place in Yerevan as part of the project “Enhancing Social Human Rights in Armenia”, which is included in the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Armenia 2023–2026.

The workshop highlighted the essential link between protecting social rights and tackling human trafficking, one of the most severe violations of human dignity. By raising awareness of trafficking as a social rights issue as well as a human rights violation, the event underlined the importance of preventing exploitation and ensuring the protection of victims’ rights.

Participants engaged in discussions on the vulnerability of displaced persons, labour exploitation, and the obligations set out in the European Social Charter and other international standards. The HELP course particularly strengthened the knowledge and practical capacity of Armenian legal professionals to identify, prevent, and respond to trafficking cases, while also promoting a victim-centred, rights-based approach.

The ceremony acknowledged the achievements of 26 participants who successfully completed the HELP online course. By combining capacity-building with recognition of individual learning, the training reinforced the role of judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and other professionals in protecting equality, justice, and social cohesion in Armenia.
