At its 152nd meeting in Strasbourg, from 18 to 22 May 2026, the Governmental Committee of the European Social Charter (GC) will focus on the follow-up to the ECSR conclusions 2025 and review progress on the reform process of the European Social Charter, including enhanced dialogue with parliamentary bodies and cooperation with international organisations.
Key discussions will include the follow-up to the High-Level Conference on the European Social Charter held in Chișinău, in March 2026, with members expected to debate future reform priorities and visibility of the Charter system.
Moreover, for the first time, the GC will be discussion the follow-up to ECSR conclusions adopted in 2025 under the new reporting cycle on the first group of provisions, which is a concrete milestone in the CM reform.
On social security matters, representatives will examine implementation of the European Code of Social Security, discuss alignment with International Labour Organization reporting cycles, and consider thematic reporting reforms.
Finally, following the adoption of the recommendation on education on the Charter system, the GC will work on a draft recommendation on awareness-raising concerning the European Social Charter.
The GC will also hold an exchange of views with the Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law, Mr Gianluca Esposito.
