Two-days online training session on the main principles of bioethics for the staff of the National Centre for Infectious Diseases

Two-days online capacity-building training session on the topics of the main principles of human rights protection in biomedicine was organized on 24-25 March 2022 for the staff of the National Centre for Infectious Diseases. The training session was requested by the National Center for Infectious Diseases and aimed at raising awareness on European standards on protection of human rights in biomedicine enshrined by the Oviedo Convention and strengthen the capacities of the staff allowing them to apply these principles in their daily work.

The training session was opened with the presentation of the Council of Europe’s Project on ’Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine’’ and Council of Europe’s HELP courses as a unique self-learning tool.

The substantial presentations on the topics of ‘’Informed consent’’, ‘’Medical Confidentiality’’, ‘’Biomedical research’’, ‘’Code of conduct for healthcare professionals’’ and ‘’Overview of the ECHR case-law regarding bioethical issues, including COVID-19’’ were made by leading international and local experts in the field of biomedicine.

The substantial presentations were followed by active discussion on the topics and comparisons with the Armenian legislation in the field.

The Training session was organised in the frameworks of the Council of Europe’s Project on ‘‘Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine’’ in Armenia.
