Dominique Hasler: Liechtenstein’s priorities for the next six months revolve around our guiding motto, ‘United by our values’

“Liechtenstein’s priorities for the next six months revolve around our guiding motto ‘United by our values, towards a better future, for the needs of all’”, said Dominique Hasler, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sport of Liechtenstein, speaking during an exchange of views with the members of the Standing Committee as the country takes up the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.

Among those priorities, she referred to the protection and promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, strengthening the European Court of Human Rights and providing support for Ukraine.

“The establishment of the Register of Damage for Ukraine in Reykjavik this year was an important first step towards accountability. It also serves as an important reminder of what the very effective co-operation between the Committee of Ministers and the Parliamentary Assembly can achieve. In our role, we will continue to advocate for broader membership of the Register. In this context, we have already commenced outreach activities, with which we hope to encourage states outside the Council of Europe to join our important efforts to ensure justice”, she underlined.

To implement these and other priorities, she concluded, “we will of course count on the active support of the Parliamentary Assembly. In the past, we have already proven how much the Committee of Ministers can achieve together with the Assembly, and we would like to continue to use this momentum”.
