From April 28-30, a delegation comprising legal and communication professionals representing the Constitutional Court of Armenia paid its first visit to the Council of Europe Headquarters in Strasbourg, engaging in discussions with key Council of Europe institutions on legal and human rights challenges.
During the visit, meetings were held with representatives from the Venice Commission, the Commissioner for Human Rights, GRECO, and the Department for the Execution of Judgments, focusing on the operational aspects of existing mechanisms.
The delegation also held in-depth dialogues with the Press Unit of the European Court of Human Rights, the HUDOC team, and the Directorate of Jurisconsult, exploring the Court's working methods, communication tools, and transparency policies.
The visit concluded with exchanges at the European Court of Human Rights, including observing a Grand Chamber judgment.
Further thematic discussions focused on the interplay between international humanitarian law and international human rights law, as well as the balance between legal and political considerations in international law.
The Council of Europe remains committed to supporting the effectiveness of the Constitutional Court of Armenia and implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
The study visit was organised by the Council of Europe in the framework of its project “Support for the Development of Constitutional Justice in Armenia in Line with European Standards” implemented within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026.
