New Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan

Maxime Longangué has been appointed Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan as of 1 April 2024.

Mr Longangué previously occupied the post of Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan. His professional experience includes positions in the Directorate of Political Affairs and External Relations of the Council of Europe, as well as previous presence at the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan with extensive experience from the Eastern Partnership region.

Taking up duties, Mr Longangué expressed his commitment to strengthening collaboration between the Council of Europe and Armenia on various initiatives and supporting the country in the implementation of reforms in strategic areas.

The Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026 is the fourth of its kind. It accompanies Armenia in its efforts to further bring legislation, institutions, and practice in line with European standards in the areas of human rights, the rule of law and democracy, and, through this, supports the country’s European ambitions.  

The Council of Europe Office in Yerevan employs a team of 32 colleagues, currently implementing 16 projects, three of which are regional initiatives.
