Armenian labour inspectors gain practical insights from Italian model of Labour Inspection

As part of the Council of Europe project "Enhancing Social Human Rights in Armenia", implemented in the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026, a delegation from the Health and Labour Inspection Body (HLIB) of Armenia completed a two-day study visit to the National Labour Inspectorate of Italy (INL).

The visit focused on sharing best practices in inspection management, planning, and implementation, with a particular emphasis on aligning procedures with international standards such as the European Social Charter.

The Armenian delegation was able to benefit from the experience of their Italian counterparts in areas such as inspection management, planning, and implementation. They have learnt about the structure and functioning of a successful labour inspectorate and related best practices including the implementation of the European Social Charter. The visit also offered an opportunity to explore more specific issues, including inspection procedures, data analysis, the use of information sources, and intelligence techniques for selecting inspection targets.

This exchange aims to strengthen Armenia’s institutional capacity to protect social and economic rights, particularly in the context of labour and workplace standards. Through the adoption of improved inspection methodologies and targeted capacity-building, the initiative supports Armenian authorities in aligning their practices with European standards and contributes to the development of a transparent, accountable, and rights-based inspection framework in the country.
