In June 2025 the Council of Europe launched three new Armenian-language HELP (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) online courses to further strengthen human rights protection in Armenia. The courses focusing on gender equality, mental health, and combatting trafficking in human beings aim to provide practical tools and legal knowledge to professionals across key sectors.
The HELP course on Gender Equality and Gender Mainstreaming was officially launched as part of the project project Ending Violence Against Women and Promoting Gender Equality in Armenia. Designed for professionals from state institutions, NGOs, academia, and the media, the course offers practical tools for integrating gender perspectives into policymaking and daily work in line with European and international standards.
Another important milestone was the successful completion of the first Armenian edition of the Mental Health and Human Rights course and launch of its next cycle. The course was developed as part of the project Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine III and provides legal and healthcare professionals with essential knowledge on protecting the rights of persons with mental health conditions, referencing European Court of Human Rights case law and international best practices.
Introduction of the HELP course on Combatting Trafficking in Human Beings was yet another evidence of successful co-operation between the Council of Europe and the Academy of Justice of Armenia. Developed as part of the project Enhancing social human rights in Armenia and tailored to the Armenian legal framework, the course offers comprehensive guidance to judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, and civil society on preventing trafficking, protecting victims, and prosecuting offenders, in line with European standards.
These newly launched courses underscore the Council of Europe’s continued commitment to advancing human rights, the rule of law, and democratic principles in Armenia. They form part of broader efforts under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023–2026.
