5 November 2025 - 16.00-17.30 / Hemicycle of the Council of Europe

INTERPRETATION: FR/EN

When citizens disengage from democracy, core freedoms and checks and balances begin to erode. Participation—through voting, civil society, and political engagement—is essential to keeping democracy alive. New technologies bring both risks and opportunities for more direct, inclusive, and informed democratic participation.

This session explores whether and how tools like deliberative forums, citizen assemblies, and other forms of public engagement can break down barriers to engagement, rebuild trust, and help revive democracy.
