The Council of Europe Office in Georgia together with the Rule of Law Center organised a training for journalists from the various regions of Georgia on understanding discrimination and how to address it in line with the ethical media coverage standards.

Together with the qualified trainers, psychologist, media experts and NGO representatives, the training participants discussed media coverage standards of discrimination incidents, hate speech and related challenges, standards as established by the Council of Europe and the Charter of Journalistic Ethics, the role of different sectors in the process of fighting against discrimination and the anatomy of discriminatory behaviour. Natalia Voutova, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, facilitated the discussion with the media representatives on their future initiatives in the process of fighting against discrimination.

This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Promoting the Effective Protection of Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia.” The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
