On 12-20 December 2022, the Council of Europe conducted training of trainers (ToT) for legal professionals. 64 judges, lawyers, professors and prosecutors, with many of those having some teaching responsibilities, participated in the ToT. For the purpose of this event, the participants were broken into three broadly equal-sized groups, each of which took part in a three-day training.

This ToT had several purposes: to ensure that the participants had at least sufficient level of knowledge; to assess their familiarity with the ECHR; and to make an appraisal of their suitability to act as trainers.

The ToT was held within the Project “Enhancing Implementation of Human Rights Practices and Education in Georgia”. The ultimate aim of the project is to establish a large and competent pool of national trainers on various ECHR topics.
