Thematic Workshop on Gender-based Discrimination

Council of Europe, in the framework of its joint Programme with the European union “Strengthening the capacity of lawyers and human rights defenders for domestic application of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and of the Revised European Social Charter (RESC)”, together with the Georgian Bar Association and the Free university of Georgia is organising a thematic workshop on “Gender-based Discrimination”.

The workshop will be held on 6 March at the premises of the Free University of Georgia. It’s aim is to discuss International and National Remedies for protection women and children against discrimination and to find adequate ways to resolve critical gender issues in Georgia.

Licensed lawyers, NGO human rights defenders and law students are invited for the workshop, which will be lead by skilled international and national Council of Europe experts.

Alessandro Savaris, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Tbilisi, Zaza Katiashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association and Tamar Tomashvili, Academic Director of the Human Rights National Institute will address the participants in the opening session.
