Following an event which was tailored for medical professionals from public and private schools in Tbilisi, 86% of them were able to correctly define core prevention concepts, including risk and protective factors, demonstrating significant improvement in their understanding and knowledge in evidence-based prevention approaches and strategies at school.
More than 30 professionals were introduced to the concepts of the evidence-based psychoactive substance use prevention, equipping school medical staff to better support children and adolescents and to contribute to safer, more protective school environments. Over four days of training delivered to two groups during November, participants examined core prevention concepts and approaches, school-based prevention models, and the fundamentals of substance use and its impacts on adolescents and youth. Participants gained comprehensive insight into evidence-based interventions, including risk and protective factors.
In addition, training covered International and European practices and approaches in evidence-based prevention. The training combined theoretical input with practical, interactive group work. Participants analysed real-life school scenarios, reflected on existing practices, and identified actionable ways to enhance early detection and strengthen prevention efforts.
These trainings were organised by the Pompidou Group Project ’’Strengthening the Role of Key Actors in Drug Prevention’’ implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
