Enhancing Judicial Data Management in Georgia: training and preparation of a methodology for statisticians

From November 17 to 19, 2023, the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) organised a training session for court statisticians involved in data collection in Georgian courts. This training was an occasion to present all the issues involved in data collection (ways to harmonize, systematize and check the quality of data during collection at court and Supreme Court levels) and the CEPEJ's methodology, as well as enabled the trainees to develop the skills and gain new knowledge needed to disseminate them to all Georgian courts.

One session was devoted to the development of a methodology, based on the experience and criteria developed by the CEPEJ in this field, with a view to facilitating, improving, and standardising data collection, transmission, and analysis. This methodology represents a crucial step towards modernising the Georgian judicial system and is also intended to enable data to be used more effectively for decision-making within the judicial system.

This activity was organised within the framework of the project “Support to modernisation of court management in Georgia”, funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance III (2023-2027) and  the Joint Programme "Support for a better evaluation of the results of judicial reform efforts in the Eastern Partnership” ("Justice Dashboard EaP"), which is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter
