Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland and Human Rights Commissioner Dunja Mijatović  met in Strasbourg today with  Tatiana Moskalkova, High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, to discuss cooperation with the Council of Europe and Human Rights Commissioner Mijatović’s contact visit to Moscow next week.

Secretary General Jagland emphasized that relations with the office of the Russian Ombudsperson had remained stable and constructive in recent years. Topics of the meeting also included the situation of the Ukrainian sailors held in detention in Russia and reciprocal visits of the Ukrainian and Russian Ombudspersons to prisoners in Russia and Ukraine.
