Committee of Ministers reviews the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights

On 20 and 21 September, representatives of the 47 member states of the Council of Europe held their third “Human Rights” meeting of 2016 at which they examined the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in keeping with the supervisory role of the Committee of Ministers, under Article 46 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The list of cases subject to a more detailed examination and the decisions adopted at this meeting appear on the website of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and also on the Committee of Ministers website.

The Committee also made public a draft list of cases proposed for more detailed examination at its next “Human Rights” meeting that will be held from 6 to 8 December. The list is purely for guidance at this stage and cases could be added or removed depending on the circumstances. Cases proposed at this stage for the December meeting concern Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, the Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
