Back Seminar on Advancing Gender Equality

Council of Europe Gender Equality Commission will organise a high-level seminar on “Advancing Gender Equality: The role and situation for gender equality mechanisms in the context of COVID-19”, in partnership with the Greek Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers. The seminar will be opened by Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, respectively President and Prime Minister of Greece; Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, Alternate Foreign Affairs Minister and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers and Marija Pejčinović Burić, Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

The event will examine the “gendered consequences” of the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of “institutional mechanisms” to limit the negative consequences of this crisis. Speakers will exchange good practices at national and international levels, providing a platform to strengthen gender equality institutions.

Interpretation in Greek will be available.
