“United around gender equality: making space for women and girls”, a high-level conference will be organised in the framework of the Lithuanian Presidency. The aim is to renew all Council of Europe member States’ strong political commitment to gender equality. Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić and Justina Jakštienė, Vice-Minister of Social Security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania, will open the conference.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Caroline Criado Perez, a writer, broadcaster, speaker, feminist campaigner and author of Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men. The morning session will launch the new Gender Equality Strategy 2024-2029 whereas the afternoon will mark the 10th anniversary of the entry into force of the Istanbul Convention. The event will be open to media until 11 am.
