Back Peer learning: Lawyers of Ombudsman of BiH visiting the Ombudswoman of Croatia

One-week placement for two lawyers from the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been organised with the office of Ombudswoman of Croatia from 12-16 November 2018.

The focus of the visit was to exchange best practices related to their institutional efficiency, relationship with public stakeholders and civil sector, advocacy policies and Institutions’ activities in protection and remedying of citizen’s human rights, as well as strengthening regional co-operation. The lawyers visited also the Gender Equality Ombudsperson, Ombudsperson for Persons with Disabilities and the Ombudsperson for Children, as well as the Ombudswoman’s regional office in Rijeka.

The placement was organised within the framework of the Action implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina: “Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman to Fight Discrimination” – which is a part of the Joint Programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”, as a three-year programme (May 2016 – May 2019), focusing on three themes: ensuring justice, fighting corruption, economic crime and organised crime, as well as combating discrimination and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups.
