Improving co-operation and establishment of a direct contact between the Ombudsman institution and the public institutions from Kupres, Drvar, Livno, Bosansko Grahovo and Glamoč was in focus of the ninth co-ordination meeting held on 11 December in Livno.
The purpose of this meeting was to establish a direct contact between the Ombudsman institution and relevant public institution, i.e. the assigned lawyer to a particular case and the representative of the competent department of the relevant institution directly discuss the submitted complaint to the Ombudsman and therefore ensure easier and immediate handling of a case. The necessity of further training for the general and expert public on human rights, prohibition of discrimination and the role and mandate of the Ombudsman institution as a central institution for the protection against discrimination is stipulated as a priority by the participants.
The coordination meeting was organised within the action “Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman to fight discrimination” which is being implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a part of the programme “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey” funded by the European Union and co-funded and implemented by the Council of Europe.
