The first quarterly meeting between the civil law departments of all four appellate courts, the Commercial Appellate Court, and the Supreme Court of Serbia was held in Belgrade with the support of the joint EU/CoE project "Support for the implementation of judicial reform in Serbia". The Belgrade Appellate Court, as the host of the meeting, presented nine disputed legal issues and provided its stance on these issues, allowing for a fruitful discussion among the appellate courts on the manner of unification of practice in these delicate matters. The Commercial Appellate Court offered valuable insights from its particular perspective, while the Supreme Court explained several stances taken by the Supreme Court.
The Council of Europe representative opened the meeting and presented measures aimed at caselaw harmonisation under the "Support for the implementation of judicial reform in Serbia" project”. The project will continue to support caselaw harmonization efforts, facilitate the usage of appropriate IT tools, and further raise awareness among judges regarding the importance of caselaw harmonisation.
