Tove H. Malloy, member of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities (ACFC) in respect of Denmark, took part in the hearing on discrimination against minority women and girls, which was organised by the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Paris today. Christophe Kamp, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (online), Alba Hernandez Sanchez, Co-Founder of the Feminist Collective of Romani Gender Experts, Jennie Brandén, Associate professor in Social work, Umeå University, Sweden (online) and Oana Taba, Co-Secretary to the Committee of Experts on Roma and Traveller Issues (ADI ROM), Council of Europe, also participated in the hearing.

In her intervention, Tove H. Malloy explained on how gender is mainstreamed in the monitoring work of the ACFC and presented some of its findings. During the exchange of views, she stressed, among other things, the need for gender-disaggregated data collection. She also drew attention to the lack of reporting mechanisms, highlighting that minority women are often subject to multiple forms of discrimination that go beyond gender discrimination.
