From 26 to 30 October 2026, the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities held its 90th plenary meeting in Strasbourg.
The Advisory Committee adopted its final opinions on the implementation of the Convention by Poland and Slovenia. These opinions will become public in early 2027 once the authorities' comments, if any, are received.
The Advisory Committee also approved its draft opinions on the implementation of the Convention by Germany, Republic of Moldova and Romania, which will now undergo a confidential dialogue phase with the authorities concerned before being examined again and adopted at a forthcoming plenary session.
The Advisory Committee elected its new bureau, for a two-year term of office, composed of:
- Besarion Bokhashvili (Georgia) as the President,
- Ingeborg Birnie-Havenga (Netherlands) as the First Vice-President,
- Ian Feldman (Republic of Moldova) as the Second Vice-President.
