Back Are you ready to talk about it? Introduction to sexuality education in schools

This training resource helps participants become more aware of how our own norms, values and cultural background influences our sexuality.

The training resource educates participants in a holistic approach to sexuality and democratic values and improves the capacity of teachers to accommodate, negotiate, and adjust to these differences, including those in teaching situations, in a way that makes them a resource rather than a source of frustration and insecurity.

The activities in the training unit focus mainly on self-analysis skills, personal identity and self-development and can be easily adjusted and combined with other units on sexuality and sexual education in school.

This training unit can be used by teachers of all age groups in delivering knowledge related to sexuality issues. Since it is difficult to separate a personal sexual identity from a professional one, as learners perceive a teacher as a whole person, teachers should be more aware of the messages they can transmit to children in sexuality issues.
