Enhancing equality and non-discrimination by training police and the judiciary on hate crime

On 3 June 2021, a Roundtable on “Enhancing equality and non-discrimination by training police, prosecutors and judges on hate crime” will take place in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, and online, starting at 09:00 AM local time. It will gather key actors and stakeholders working on combating discrimination and hate crime/speech to hear and discuss on the follow-up given by the authorities to the relevant parts of the ECRI conclusions on the Republic of Moldova (EN/FR/RO) published in May 2021.

The objectives of the round table are to:

  • Introduce and discuss with relevant national stakeholders the latest ECRI Conclusions on the Republic of Moldova
  • Review and discuss promising practices on training of law enforcement and judiciary on hate crime in the Republic of Moldova
  • Identify future directions of work on combating hate crime and discrimination in the Republic of Moldova.

The roundtable is organised by the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) in cooperation with the joint EU and Council of Europe project on ‘Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech’, part of the ‘Partnership for Good Governance II’.

The agenda of the round table includes inputs by national institutions and civil society on the topics of combating discrimination and hate crimes.
