Back Closing webinar of "WE CAN understand counter hate speech" course

Closing webinar of

Students from the "WE CAN understand and counter hate speech" online course attended the closing webinar held online on 12 May 2021. 

The newly revised version of the Facing Facts course aimed to equip students with the necessary knowledge to identify hate speech, and to support them in countering it by presenting a multitude of ways, from counter-speech to alternative campaigns, and importantly, human rights-based narratives. The course had been updated using online tools and research from the WE CAN for human rights speech project.

The webinar was an opportunity for the students to continue their networking and meet representatives of international networks which monitor and counter hate speech, to see how they could put their new knowledge into practice, and learn from more experienced activists. 

Representatives from the following networks attended and introduced their work and exchanged with the students on current and upcoming work: 

The "WE CAN for human rights speech" project invited students to continue using the online tools to analyse hate speech, develop human rights narratives and communication strategies to counter hate speech. The students were also invited to apply to participate in the upcoming events organised by consortitum.
