The advocacy skills of the staff of the Office of the State Advocate (OSA) were further strengthened through a training programme on trial advocacy and litigation skills which took place on 28-29 July 2025. The topic was identified as one of the key priorities by the OSA lawyers in several training needs assessments.
The training attended by 27 lawyers was delivered jointly by two senior judges from England and Malta with the focus on hallmarks of good advocacy, key elements of a good opening speech, cross-examination of witnesses and final oral submissions.
This activity is part of the project’s support to expand professional development opportunities for the staff of the OSA.
The EU-CoE Joint Project “Attorney General and State Advocate in Malta - Implementation of action plan of offices re-organisation” is co-funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument, and implemented by the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the European Commission.
