The European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) course on “The Environment and Human Rights” was launched online on 11 October 2021 for law students. The online event brought together 23 students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Northern Macedonia with the tutor of the course, the representatives of the HELP platform and the Project team.

Following the online launching event, the participants will take the course online, with autonomous, asynchronized learning on the HELP online Platform, with moderation from a HELP Tutor. The course duration will be 8 weeks, with approximately a 2-hour commitment every two weeks.

This free HELP online course addresses the legal frameworks and practical approaches that will support students, legal practitioners and others in understanding the connections between human rights and the environment, in particular how to apply a human rights-based approach to environmental protection.

The course consists of an introductory module, as well as 4 specific modules addressing the main aspects related to a human rights-based approach to environmental protection.

The participants who have successfully completed the course and passed the evaluation set by the tutor will receive certificates issued by the HELP Programme of the Council of Europe.

The course was translated, adopted, and uploaded in B/H/S languages within the framework of the Project "Initiative for Legal Certainty and Efficient Judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina – Phase II”, which is implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by the Kingdom of Norway.

HELP courses are accessible for free on the HELP online platform.
