The Higher and Further Education Unit of the Council of Europe Education Department works to advance fair and automatic recognition, student mobility, academic freedom and democratic participation across Europe. A newly released video highlights the key initiatives and partnerships driving this work, and their impact on students, institutions and societies across Europe.
The video presents the Programme’s main areas of action, including:
· Democratic mission of higher education, including the protection of academic freedom
· Students’ Rights Charter, developed with the European Students’ Union (ESU), promoting access, inclusion, participation and safe learning environments
· Fair recognition of qualifications through the Lisbon Recognition Convention and with the support of the ENIC and NARIC networks
· Work towards a new convention supporting automatic recognition of qualifications , and discussions on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in recognition processes
· Supporting recognition of refugees qualifications through the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR)
· Integrity, transparency and trust in education, through the ETINED Platform and the Centre for Preventing and Countering Education Fraud
Together, these initiatives reflect a shared ambition to build higher education systems across Europe that are fairer, more transparent, more resilient and better prepared for the future.
