The Council of Europe is set to host the 2nd European Forum on Digital Citizenship Education on 27-29 May in Strasbourg, uniting a broad spectrum of stakeholders to foster democratic participation and responsible digital behaviour. The event will also be broadcasted live, allowing wider audiences to follow the discussions remotely.
Main stakeholder groups, including representatives from governments, formal and non-formal education, youth and civil society organisations will discuss how digital citizenship can respond effectively to the demands of today’s fast-changing technological landscape. The programme will focus on current issues shaping digital citizenship, including the growing role of artificial intelligence, children’s rights in online environments, media and information literacy, and inclusive participation in digital spaces. Participants will examine how schools, families, and institutions can work together to support learners in developing critical thinking, ethical awareness, and responsible online engagement.
In addition to exchange of experiences from member states on their contributions to the European Year 2025 and collaborative sessions, the Forum will serve as a platform for developing activities and identifying future priorities linked to the implementation of the Council of Europe Road Map for Strengthening Digital Citizenship Education 2027-2031.
