EduTalk@CoE on the importance of evidence-based Practices in artificial intelligence and education

In November 2022, the Council of Europe released a ground-breaking report titled "Artificial Intelligence and Education", which critically examined the impact of AI in education through the lens of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. This report identified pressing challenges associated with the deployment of AI-enabled technologies in educational settings and underscored the need for further research on evidence-based practices when implementing AI in education.

The upcoming EduTalk@CoE on the importance of evidence-based Practices in artificial intelligence and education continues this vital conversation, emphasising the significance of evidence-based approaches when considering the use of AI systems in education. During this event, our renowned speakers will address essential questions, such as:

  • What is the current body of evidence supporting the effectiveness and impact of AI in teaching and learning?
  • To what extent does the existing evidence justify the ongoing enthusiasm surrounding AI in education?
  • Where do we currently stand with research and evidence? How do we define "evidence"?

Besides discussing the fundamental role of evidence-based practice, this EduTalk aims to clarify what is "evidence" from various stakeholders' perspectives as per challenges and opportunities of collecting and measuring meaningful data.

Join us on Zoom to participate in the upcoming discussion as part of EduTalks@CouncilofEurope series on Thursday, December 14th, at 17:00 CET to gain insights into these questions and engage in a thought-provoking discussion that will help shape the future of AI in education.

The Council of Europe Education Department extends a warm welcome to researchers, education professionals, policymakers, and anyone interested in the role of AI in shaping the future of learning.
