Paris, 28 June 2022 - On the first day of the Transforming Education Pre-Summit, taking place at UNESCO on 28-30 June, Matjaž Gruden, Director of Democratic Participation, attended a meeting of the High Level Steering Committee Leaders Group.

The HLSC approved today an urgent call to action to be addressed to Heads of State and Government at the September 2022 Transforming Education Summit in New York.

The call to action emphasises education as a human right, as well as a public good and responsibility, and is broadly consistent with the priorities of the Council of Europe's Education programme.
