Recommendation CM/Rec(2019)9
Recommendation on fostering a culture of ethics in the teaching profession

The Council of Europe Committee of Ministers has just adopted a Recommendation on fostering a culture of ethics in the teaching profession.

This recommendation, which was prepared by the Steering Committee for Education Policy and Practice (CDPPE) of the Council of Europe in the context of the ETINED Platform, aims to foster ethics, transparency and integrity in education through the drafting, implementation and review of codes of ethics for the teaching profession.

The provisions of the Recommendation cover all levels of education, from pre-primary to higher education, including vocational education, as ethical principles should prevail throughout the whole education system. The Recommendation therefore makes no difference between the different strands of education or between public and private education institutions.

More information is available in the Explanatory Memorandum of the Recommendation.
