An action plan to ensure the continuation of Andorra’s pioneering work on education in cooperation with the Council of Europe has been signed today.
Andorran Minister for Education and Higher Education Eric Jover Comas and Council of Europe Director General of Democracy Snežana Samardžić-Marković signed the agreement in Oslo, during the launch of the new Council of Europe education campaign, FREE TO SPEAK, SAFE TO LEARN – Democratic Schools for All.
Ms Samardžić-Marković said: ‘For many years, Andorra has supported the Council of Europe’s work on the competences young people need to learn in school to become active citizens in our democratic societies. So, it is only fitting that we should be signing this agreement during the launch of our new education campaign, which will see the wider implementation of our Reference Framework for Competences for Democratic Culture. The Framework was road-tested in Andorra, where it is now part of the education degree programme for teachers.’
