6th ETINED Plenary Session (2022)

The 6th Plenary Session of the Council of Europe Platform on Ethics, Transparency and Integrity in Education (ETINED) was held on 17 and 18 November. Delegates from 31 countries and observers discussed issues related to the Recommendation of the Committee of Ministers on countering education fraud and its Explanatory Memorandum adopted last July.

The Working Group of experts presented a series of research studies based on responses to a baseline questionnaire on the present situation concerning education fraud in the member States. They touched upon the legal responses to commercial contract cheating and essay mills, the role of ENIC/NARIC in countering document fraud and diploma mills, the role of codes of ethics in education institutions and digital solutions to counter fraud.

The recently published compendium of Best Practices Programme in Promoting Academic Integrity based on the ETINED Principles was presented. the aim of the programme is to identify, publicly recognise and disseminate relevant practices in promoting academic integrity throughout higher education institutions in Europe.

Delegates nominated a Bureau composed of representatives from Czech Republic, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, and the European Students’ Union, that will identify and propose priorities in the areas of awareness, prevention and monitoring for the future work of the Platform.
