The Council of Europe invites applications for the 2nd European Forum on Digital Citizenship Education (DCE), a key event building on the momentum of the European Year of Digital Citizenship Education 2025. As digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly shape our societies, this Forum will convene stakeholders from across Europe to consolidate progress, share best practices, and co-define the future of digital citizenship education.
Planned as a collaboration for the long-term plan within the Council of Europe’s Road Map for Strengthening Digital Citizenship Education 2027-2031, the Forum seeks to:
- Consolidate and leverage lessons learnt from the European Year of Digital Citizenship Education 2025.
- Develop a five-year action plan within the agreed strategic pathways for digital citizenship education.
- Reinforce international co-operation on digital citizenship education, aligning European efforts and fostering sustainable partnerships.
Key Highlights of the Programme:
- Exchange on the achievements from the European Year 2025.
- Workshops to co-create SMART activities for the future Road Map.
- Youth-led sessions spotlighting the voices of young digital citizens.
- Focused discussions on parenting, innovative teaching methods, digital well-being, and actionable solutions for education policymakers and practitioners.
Participants will include educators, policymakers, young people, parents and carers, innovators, researchers and other actors passionate about equipping European education systems and societies for the evolving digital era.
The outcomes of the Forum, including the action plan for 2027-2031, will help guide member states in delivering on their commitments to empower resilient and democratic societies with advanced digital competences. International cooperation to advance human rights and the rule of law in the digital era is a key focus throughout the event.
